One hundred years ago, one woman stood between John D Rockefeller and millions in illegal profits being made at the expense of average Americans. And today is her birthday. Allegheny College alumna Ida Tarbell, class of 1880, was born in Erie County on November 5, 1857. To celebrate the courageous spirit of independent journalism, Allegheny is celebrating Ida Tarbell's birthday in Pelletier Library on Friday, November 5, 2-4 pm. Erie Cathedral Prep linebacker Andre Mathis makes his offical recruiting visit to Penn State this weekend. There is little chance he will attend the school. "
