Silicon Valley Biz Ink %3A%3A The voice of the valley economy: " SPRINGFIELD%2C Mass.%2C Aug. 19 SPRINGFIELD, Mass., Aug. 19 /PRNewswire/ -- As students return to school,
the Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Company (MassMutual) reminds working
parents of its completely free, philanthropic life insurance program for
working parents, designed to ensure that if a parent passes away, money will
be available to pay for their children's education. Under the company's $1
billion LifeBridge(SM) Free Life Insurance Program, 20,000 qualifying working
parents nationwide will each be insured by a $50,000, 10-year term life
insurance policy. MassMutual pays the premiums for these policies.
The program is simple: If a parent dies within the policy term,
MassMutual will put $50,000 in trust to pay solely for the educational
expenses of the parent's dependent children. MassMutual has so far given away
more than $100 million in insurance. To obtain an eligibility form, people
can call MassMutual toll-free at 1-800-272-2216.

Are Government Grants Really FREE?

AccessNorthGa.com - Your Online Local Newspaper: I was catching you-know-what the other day for questioning the Red Rabbit. "It is obvious people don't consider it a vital service," I said, "otherwise, more people would be taking advantage of it. If it is unsuccessful by now," I continued, "why should the taxpayers of Gainesville pay a half-million a year to keep it going?" That did it. My honorable opponent let me know that 75 percent of the money for the Red Rabbit comes from the state and federal governments, so it does not cost us much of anything, and we would be foolish to turn that money down.Somehow or other, a lot of us have gotten the idea that government grants are free; that they don't cost us taxpayers anything. And if it is to be used for OUR cause, then it is a worthwhile use of our tax money anyway. Let me ask you to think about something ...Government has no money except what it takes from its citizens.
